Subject: Online Reputation

Doubting anyone would have guessed that typing in Michael E. Ferrell would have pulled up 1,190,000 results. Though, it seems none are the Michael E. Ferrell from Utah State University who is currently a student and in the JCOM 2310 course.

Even typing in Mike Ferrell did not help my search, what did pull up was an actor from M.A.S.H. that has several websites and blogs dedicated to him. Also, there were many results for a Mike Ferrell car dealership in Virginia as well as Michael Ferrell a comedian.

http://www.myspace.com/michaelferrell/

Trying to utilize other social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn or Google Images to refine my search could not help the search because there were no results for a Michael or Mike Ferrell from Logan, Utah or Utah State University. Nor could I even find his blog that is required for the JCOM 2310 class. Michael Ferrell in the JCOM 2310 course seems to be a ghost which creates no positive or negative online image. Therefore, Mike is doing little justice to his name online which could result in a variety of ways when sending out your resume for a career.

INTERIOR DESIGN GOES FASHIONISTA

International Interior Designer Association Hosts Fashion Show in Salt Lake City

LOGAN, Utah – The Fashion Remix, hosted by IIDA Rocky Mountain chapter is a fashion show in which interior designers are teamed up with manufacturers to create an ensemble. The outfit could be made up of any material including: laminate, carpet, tile, or wall coverings

The purpose of this competition is to push the boundaries of the design through creative outlets. Utah State University’s Interior Design program has two professors, Darrin Brooks, Susan Tibbits and a design student Linea Senna that will be entering in an ensemble. They were approached by the Rocky Mountain chapter to represent Northern Utah in May. Teamed up with Forbo Flooring using Marmoleum material, their theme idea became masquerade. “[Our] goal was to develop an involved scheme for a costume to be worn as a disguise to a ball with a mask. We laser cut the flooring giving it an unexpected look, it impossible to tell it is rubber floor tile,” said Brooks.

There will be five awards given to the top design. Design students from USU plan on attending the event to support their professors. A design student Martha Rex said “I plan on attending the event because design covers a wide spectrum of fields, I love great design used in any application.”

The event will take place on Oct. 22, 2009 at The Tower at Rice Eccles Stadium, 451 South 1400 East in Salt Lake City. The general admission tickets are $30, student tickets are $15, while the VIP ticket cost $100. Though design is what will take forefront at this event, the proceeds will go to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation for research in finding a treatment.

IIDA was founded in 1994 as the result of a merger of the Institute of Business Designers (IBD); the International Society of Interior Designers (ISID); and the Council of Federal Interior Designers (CFID). The goal of the merger was to create an international association with a united mission that would represent interior designers worldwide. Since that date, IIDA has worked to convene communities of interior designers across regions and specialties representing the interests for the entire community.

CVAIA EXPERTS GIVE ADVICE ON FINANCIAL INDEPENDENCE

Cache Valley Area Investors Association Encourage Others to Become Financially Smart

LOGAN, Utah -- Cache Valley Area Investors Association (CVAIA) is an organization that informs others on how they can become financially independent. CVAIA is committed to spreading knowledge to others by providing experts to attend meetings, answer questions, and give advice. President Preston Parker said, “You want to do the job you love, not the job that pays you.”

CVAIA would provide a different aspect of financial investing for Forbes’, if used it would be a piece featured in the online section titled market, then found in intelligent investing, because what the organization is trying to accomplish for the community is how to become intelligent at investments.

The ideals of CVAIA are if a person invest time, assets, and experiences they then have provided the necessary stepping stones to financial independence. This becomes possible to achieve when their passive income regularly exceeds expenses. For this to be accomplished, a person must raise their passive income and lowering their expenses. “The law of abundance is if I win, you win. Everyone advances, plenty for all of us to achieve,” said Parker.

With this economy we all have to become intelligent at investing, if Forbes’ provided a featured story on a smaller town that provided exceptional information on financial investing, it would provide hope, knowing others are trying to better the economy.

CVAIA meets every other Thursday, their next meeting will be held Oct. 29, 2009 at
7:00 P.M. in the Cache Chamber of Commerce building, Logan, Utah.
